Forgiveness starts with self acceptance.

You can only imagine how much “baggage” people have in their lives. Most people hold on to them for dear life, while others are lucky enough to get rid of it with time.

In entering this new year I’m keeping in mind forgiveness and self acceptance. The past year has been full of many trials and tribulations especially with my family. Its really difficult to keep moving on with a smile on your face knowing that people you love are crumbling right before your eyes. And then you get that fear of going down with them. I guess what I’m trying to say is that this year I hope that my patience can withstand low moments in the lives of people I love. I love being the stronghold, the listener, the comforter, but what I forget is that peaceful/helpful people deal with shit too. Their love ones shouldn’t take them or their emotions for granted. After all “hurt people, hurt people. ” I hope that people realize that most of us have the mindset that we are at the beginning of our lives, where we strive for our many career goals, hope to start a family, have kids, and get married. Sometimes we forget that our parents have the perspective that they are near the end of their lives where they’ve accomplished their career, family building, and have only whatever’s left of their life to look forward to. The truth is we all complain, we all need to feel worth something, and we all need to feel loved.

This year I challenge myself to love despite frustrations. I know there are times I may let my emotions control my thinking, but I’ll do my best. I hope we all too.

Love yourself. Love others.
If you love both then you love God too.
